What do I do if my child needs to be absent?
When your child misses a day of school there are two ways to have the day marked as an excused absence.
- Reply to the PowerSchool communication before 6pm
- If your student is marked absent, PowerSchool will automatically send you a text message, phone call, email and update in the app. Respond to any of these automated messages before 6pm that day and the absence reason will be recorded in the system.

The school will no longer be accepting absence notes via email or handwritten parent notes.
Do not call the school for absences. Calls for absences cannot be accepted.
Without an absence note, your child will be marked “unexcused”. Under PA state law, (3) or more unexcused absences results in your child being considered truant and (6) or more unexcused absences results in your child being considered habitually truant.

¿Qué hago si mi hijo(a) debe ausentarse?
Cuando su hijo(a) falta un día de clase, hay dos maneras de que el día quede marcado con una ausencia justificada.
- Responder a la comunicación de PowerSchool antes de las 6 p.m.
- Si su alumno(a) figura con una ausencia, PowerSchool le enviará automáticamente un mensaje de texto, llamada telefónica, correo electrónico y actualización en la aplicación. Responda a cualquiera de estos mensajes automatizados antes de las 6 p.m. de ese día y el motivo de la ausencia se registrará en el sistema.
